BIRDS OF THE DESERT SOUTHWEST
I thought I would put up a topic about birds. This is one of my favorite, the Cactus Wren. It is also the state bird of Arizona. Hope to see more birds on this site. Tom K.

Here's a cedar waxwing. I found it in my yard one bitterly cold morning last Jan. He had apparently taken off in the dark and nose dived into the frozen snow on the ground. I propped him up for a photo. It's mate was nearby and had frozen on it's perch and simply dropped to the ground.

I'm going to try another photo of the Red-Tailed hawk. This is a better photo......I didn't have much time to set up. Like fifteen seconds at best before the bird flew.

Here is a photo of a Mallard drake you might enjoy taken last year at Canyon Lake.

Birds are tough...I mean, I may not even have a bird shot that's in focus!
Another backyard birdie (hooded oriole)...

Great photos guys! Love the artwork too!
I have always wanted to see a Cedar Waxwing... Very pretty birds!
Here is a parent Cactus Wren teaching it's kids what to eat....

And one of four GHOz that I saw during a birding class field trip last January....
