Grand Canyon NP, AZ (QTVR)

Grand Canyon National Park is probably the most sensational example of erosion anywhere in the world. Encompassing 277 miles of the Colorado River and adjacent uplands,. the canyon is 10 miles across and more than a mile deep, displaying 2 billion years of geologic time. The South Rim park entrance is 80 miles northwest of Flagstaff, Arizona.

Our panoramic view of the Grand Canyon is taken from the South Rim at Yaki Point, just a mile east of the Visitor Center. From an elevation of 7,262 feet, we look northeast up the canyon, then turning left (north, then west) our view passes over South Kaibab Trail, the western portion of the canyon , then Yavapia Point and Park headquarters.

As Titus Canyon Road in Death Valley reaches the foothills, it starts to climb and meander among the sagebrush and red rock outcroppings. The road becomes steeper and narrower as it approaches Red Pass, amply named for its red rocks and dirt. Enjoy the ride!

The Watchtower as it appears looking west from South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Turning right (northward) we view the Canyon itself. Continuing to the right we move from across the Canyon (North Rim), then east and south viewing the Kaibab Plateau.
